I think this animation portraits something we all can relate to from time to time, od:ing on caffeine!

The Dictaphone Parcel

Dictaphone Parcel from Lauri Warsta on Vimeo.

Cool idea and nice execution: Girl sends a dictaphone from London to Helsinki and made an animation based on the sounds it recorded.

kreuzbronx

In the Marheinekehalle is an interesting Photo exhibition on display with pictures of Wolfgang Krolow. He is known for his socially engaged Photography in Berlin. The exhibition shows Kreuzberg in the eighties. Worth visiting I think. It looks like the Bronx!

Strobo-typography-porn

I went to see Gaspar Noe's "Enter the Void" this week, a somewhat slow and demanding but extremely worthwhile and unique cinema experience. To be honest, I think I would've paid the ticket price just for the one minute opening title sequence alone. It's uncompromising, unforgiving, and absolutely amazing.

If you think it looks good in this YouTube clip (make sure you watch it in full screen 720p HD!), try to imagine what is like projected on a huge canvas in crisp sharp 35mm in a completely darkened theatre with a loud sound system. Pure genius. Even the obnoxious techno music is perfect and pure joy in this clip, which supports my theory that there is no such thing as bad music, it just needs to find its proper context.

Make sure you watch the whole thing -- it really kicks off after two thirds!

Disturbing

What's a friday without the Monty Python Clip of the Week? Absolutely nothing.

The Digital Comic Museum

I think this will be of great interest to at least 3/4 of this little blogging community: The Digital Comic Museum is an archive of public domain comics from the 'golden age' -- free to download, remix, and share. All right!! :)

Copenhagen Sans

Comic Sans is widely regarded as one of the worst looking typefaces around, so much so that there are numerous websites devoted to it's ridicule and attempted banning. So I was very surprised to find that the fine people of Copenhagen, a city internationally known for tasteful Scandinavian design, seem to be so fond of it. These are just a couple of photos I took over a very short time while walking around in central Copenhagen a few days ago. Totally incomprehensible.

UPDATE: Hitler freaks out over Comic Sans.

Teylers Museum Haarlem

Jenny's back - finally, after months of work.....
starting with a bunch of pictures of Teylers Museum Haarlem from our Netherland-Trip in spring (long time ago, I know :)

The Teylers Museum is the oldest Museum in the Netherlands, a huge collection of natural history stuff, everything from fossils to drawings by Lineé. Here I focus on the room of scientific instruments.

The Last Supper

And it's friday again! This live Python clip from 1980 is quite amazing. Almost four minutes long, but well worth it. :)

Kuchar documentary

They made a new docu about the Kuchar brothers, the famous independent filmmakers that I, to be honest, know way to little about. According to my source who usually has a very trustworthy opinion, it is a hilarious heartwarming documentary that fans of the brothers by no means should miss. I'm going after it in the shady torrent world because it raised my interest. I'll finally watch the clips Marcus has given me long ago, and maybe I'll dedicate another post to it to share my Kuchnar experience.

If I can find the docu, we should watch it together, Marcus and Jenny! (and Anton ofcourse! Next time around. Soon?)

just funny...
